Victorian Country Short Course Swimming Championships to be held in Wangaratta on 18th and 19th August 2018.

The Victorian Country Short Course Swimming Championships will be held at the Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre on August 18 and 19 2018. The meet will be hosted by the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association who hosted the meet previously at this facility in 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2017. The Wangaratta Indoor Sports and Aquatic Centre is located on Schilling Drive in Wangaratta.

The indoor pool facility in Wangaratta has been ideally suited to holding this meet since opening in 2002.  The 200 grandstand seats which the district supplements with temporary grandstands and rental seating allows us to achieve the required pool seating capacity of at least 800.  The recent carpark upgrade by Council has further enhanced the attractivness of this facility.

At the upcoming Victorian Country Short Course Championships we have arranged that the Basketball Stadium be available for any swimmers wishing to utilise it throughout the weekend. The space has  plenty of room for stretching and we have arranged for some heating to make the temperature in the stadium more comfortable. There will be benches and chairs available in the area.  If personal chairs are brought into this area they must have plastic feet as we do not want to scratch the polished floorboards of the court area. Travel rugs, beanbags and sleeping bags may be other ideas for swimmers to sit on. It is also planned that this area will have a water outlet for filling drink bottles and a monitor so that Swimmers can see current event number in the pool and the event being marshalled.
